This mother and son jewellery store located not far from the MACBA museum offers affordable, hand-made pieces which reflect something of the city’s free spirit. The shop contains samples from a range of different collections, including chunky tribal-inspired necklaces and delicate geometric bracelets. Bagana BCN is also a great place to visit if you have a particular idea in mind which could be made to measure without breaking the bank.
Sant Joieria
A family-run jewellery store located in the heart of Barcelona’s trendy El Born neighbourhood, Sant Joieria has been on the go since the 1930s. At the time, founder Ramon Sant’s designs stood out for their innovative style: simpler, purer than the most popular pieces of the time. These days the family have retained their taste for the contemporary, offering unique designs in silver, gold and semi-precious and precious stones.

Aina Joies
A Barcelona-based jewellery company, Aina have a devoted following on Instagram with over 38K followers. Designed and made in the Catalan capital, Aina’s pieces are contemporary and ideal for layering and pairing. Their rings in particular are the kind that you want to wear one of on each finger, or two if possible. And are very affordable, starting at just €16 for a silver ring.
Coolook
This Spanish brand became an overnight sensation when socialite Isabel Preysler – mother of singer Enrique Iglesias – was featured on the front cover of ¡Hola! (Spanish Hello) in a pair of the brand’s earrings. Coolook designer Mar Aldeguer specialises in semi-precious stones which are then transformed in silversmith workshops in Spain and Italy. Her pieces are often colourful, sophisticated yet playful and certain to make an impact.

Tous
This now world-famous jewellery brand started out in Catalonia nearly a hundred years ago. Best known for its iconic teddybear shaped designs, Tous‘s – who has been represented by Kylie Minogue, Jennifer Lopez and Gwyneth Paltrow – designs are youthful and playful, made from noble materials and start from around €50 for a teddybear pendant.
Après-Ski
Not all jewellery has to be made of gold and silver. If you’re a fan of big, bold costume jewellery then Après Ski is where you need to head. Designer Lucía Vergara draws on her childhood memories to create imaginative shapes, evocative of plants, animals but also geometric patterns and surreal shapes. Even the packaging at Après Ski is adorable: a matchbox inspired box designed by various artists.

Chez Paulette
The name is a dead giveaway that this small boutique in the Gothic Quarter has a certain French touch about it. A jewellery designer herself, French creator Marion decided to open her first jewellery store in her adopted city of Barcelona. Alongside her own designs, Chez Paulette also sells jewellery by artisan brands such as Ripisylvia (from Toulouse), Le Voyage des Bulles (Montpellier) and Fosseth (Paris).
